The Scarlet Pages - Short Film
Log Line: After discovering a journal in his parent’s old house, Roger Caul seeks to uncover the truth about a series of past murders with the hopes of exonerating his father.
Synopsis: When Roger Caul was just a young boy, his father was convicted of murder...the murder of Roger’s mother, to be precise. Unlike his sister, Roger has never been able to fully accept this. He has always maintained his father's innocence and that someone else must have been responsible.
When Roger discovers his father's journal detailing this very fact, he begins down a rabbit hole, reliving the past through his father's words and their secret investigation into the string of murders that plagued their city 20 years ago.
Using the journal, Roger pieces things together bit by bit, coming closer to identifying the mysterious man who was actually responsible for the killings. His obsessive behaviour unknowingly pushes his sister further away, and catches the unwanted attention of the still elusive mysterious man.
As he nears the truth written somewhere in the pages of the journal, Roger begins to parallel his own father's mental health decline, all of which culminates in a devastating revelation.
